The area occupied by the historical Principality of Samegrelo has had numerous names throughout history, including Colchis, Egrisi, Lazika, Odishi, and Mingrelia. As it is the case with most Black Sea coastal areas of Georgia, Samegrelo’s climate is subtropical. An average temperature of around 16°C in Summer. The region’s administrative centre is Zugdidi.

v For centuries, Samegrelo was ruled by the powerful Dadiani family. The House of Dadiani was a Georgian family of nobles and a ruling dynasty of the western Georgian province of Samegrelo. Dadiani Palace Historical and Architectural Museum in Zugdidi, was established in 1921 and contains 41000 items.
v Poti Cathedral - is a Georgian Orthodox church in downtown Poti. The cathedral is an imitation of Hagia Sofia in Istanbul, and it was built in 1906-07 with the great contribution of Niko Nikoladze, the mayor of Poti. Notably, Niko Nikoladze chose the location of the cathedral in the center of the town to make it viewable from every side of Poti.
v Kolkheti National Park is located in western Georgia. It covers the eastern zone of the Black Sea coast and the basin of the Paliastomi Lake. The Park is established with the purpose of protection and surviving of wetland ecosystems. The real beauty of the Kolkheti national park is the Paliastomi Lake that was the gulf of the Black Sea several thousand years ago. From Control Tower you could watch bird migration. some of them are rare species included in the Red Book.
