Batumi - is the capital city of the Autonomous Republic of Adjara in the country of Georgia. Batumi is one of the oldest cities in Georgia founded as early as BC. Its initial form – Batus – had already been mentioned in the 4th century BC. The climate in Batumi is humid subtropical.

 

YOU WILL VISIT:


v  Botanical Garden - The Batumi Botanical Garden overlooks the Black Sea and is one of the largest and richest botanical gardens in the world. Located 9km north of Batumi at Mtsvane Kontskhi (Green Cape) it contains thousands of beautiful species of plants.  Created by the Russian botanist Andrey Nikolayevich Krasnov in the 1880s, the Garden officially opened on November 3, 1912 and recently celebrated its centenary.

v   The Holy Trinity Monastery  - The monastery has wonderful view from all saides. Holy Trinity church was destroyed by Ottomans during the Russo-Turkish war (1877-1879). It was rebuild by Honorable patriot Shalva Breus in 2007-2015 years.

v Gonio-Apsaros Fortress - Located on the left bank of the River Chorokhi and is 12 km south of Batumi. Gonio fortress is a well preserved Roman fortification in Ajara, on the Black sea coast. The fortress is rectangular (195/245 meters) with a gate on each side but only the western gate is open.

v Batumi Boulevard - Construction of Batumi Boulevard started in 1881. In 2004, 1.9 km Old Boulevard was enlarged up to 7 km and now this part of the seaside park is called New Boulevard.

v Batumi Piazza - was built in 2009 in Old Batumi. Square was designed by famous Georgian architect Vazha Orbeladze and it is a mixture and an unique ensemble of different styles and trends.

v Batumi Sea Port - The port was  declared Porto Franco in 1878 (for the period until 1885). Participation in the oil transportation turned Batumi Sea Port in the important center of Eurasian transportation corridor and major transportation object of international importance.

v Moving sculpture of Ali and Nino - The iconic seven meter tall kinetic installation was designed by Georgian artist Tamara Kvesitadze. The installation shows Ali and Nino moving slowly towards each other until their bodies merge for a short embrace.

v Batumi Holy Mother Virgin’s Nativity Cathedral - was built in 1897 with financial support of well-known brothers Zubalashvilebi. The three-domed church is constructed in pseudo-gothic style. The church is constructed with special stones. It changes its colour according to the weather which gives it additional mystery.

v Musical and Dancing Fountains - In 2009 the modern part of the park was decorated by new french colors musical dancing fountains – one of the best in Europe.  A magnificent sight lies in front of the visitors of the Park: dancing streams of water are drawing miraculous and ingenious patterns to the music.
