Machakhela is a historical geographical area and long valley along the river Machakhlistskali. Machakhela Gorge, the most stunning place of the region, is located in 30 km from Batumi. Machakhela gorge is characterized by a unique variety of relict and endemic plants. Among woody plants there are 13 species enlisted in the Red Book of Georgia.

v Machakhela National park - announced as a national park in 2012. It is located in the gorge of the Machakhela River. National park is also rich in flora and fauna such as - Caucasian bees, brown bears, Caspian snowcocks, Caucasian salamanders, yew, Chorokhi oak, rhododendron ungerii. There are many wonderful waterfalls In the Machakhela National park.
v Fortress Gvara - the previous feudal castle, situated at the mouth of the river Machakhela and Chorokhi. Fortress occupies about 150 sq.m. area. The fortress has an oval shape.Fortess was there about in VI-VII centuries. Gvara fortress had active role due to it`s strategic location. It used for controlling the ways of Chorokhi And Machakhela valleys.
v Machakhela Gun Monument - Machakhela Gorge is also the birthplace of Ajarian gun making. Famous “Machakhela gun” was produced by local craftsmen in the XVIII century. Later The gun was known in the entire Caucasus.
v Tskhemlara - arch stone bridge: Tskhemlara Bridge was built over the River Machakhela in the village of Tskhemlara. Its half-oval design and quite narrow and is used as a footbridge.
